Set high on a ridge-line overlooking the pristine lake Tarawera and out to the mountainous wilderness beyond, you could easily believe you’re right out back in the high country blocks, when in fact you’re just fifteen minutes from the business and tourism hub of Rotorua in the central North Island.
An event at The Black Barn has an atmosphere of intimacy and elegance whilst still retaining that down to earth, relaxed kiwi charm.

There are many stunning sites for exchanging your vows and entertaining your guests, both within the landscaped grounds and around the 65 acre farm. The natural beauty of the landscape is a photographer’s dream, with grassy meadows all around and gorgeous native bush, forest, lake and mountain backdrops.

We work with some of the highest regarded chefs and caterers in the region and beyond. From a plated five course sit-down menu to more casual grazing options, contemporary New Zealand cuisine to asian fusion, we can give you options to suit your style and budget.
We provide a BYO alcohol option with no corkage charge . Our beautiful wooden cross-back banquet chairs plus a variety of other quality indoor and outdoor inclusions to help create your look.
A bespoke, black-poled clear marquee that can be hired with just 24 hours notice as a wet weather option for your outdoor ceremony.
